Ethereum Core Developers Postpone “Difficulty Bomb”
The core developers of the Ethereum network agreed on their regular YouTube meeting that the implementation of the “Difficulty Bomb” would be postponed so that its code could be included in the upcoming hard fork Constantinople.
One of the Ethereum Foundation’s main objectives is to adopt a new consensus algorithm called Proof-of-Stake (POS). To do so, a solution called the “Difficulty Bomb” was developed. This solutions makes the creation of new blocks on the chain even more complicated and unfavorable. And the hard fork Constantinople is designed to ease the transition of the current Proof-of-Work (POW) to the new POS.

Blockchain Project Coil Enters Beta Phase
Coil, a startup founded by the ex-CTO of Ripple, Stefan Thomas, has now entered its Beta Phase. This project was announced in May this year. Coil’s aim is to help web content creators better monetize their work. According to Thomas, the small web content creators ended up making hardly any money on the web. Through this platform, he now hopes to level the playing field so that even the underdogs can earn a living.
Thomas stated that the Beta Phase has not been announced publically, but they have invited select parties to join up. So far, a few websites have already joined the platform and the company has so far done a few passive integrations with sites like YouTube, Wikipedia and Twitch.

Taiwan Hospital Launches Healthcare Blockchain Platform
According to local news media, the Taipei Medical University Hospital has launched a Blockchain based system to help enhance its medical record-keeping. This new system is called the Healthcare Blockchain Platform and has been developed to support the Taiwanese government’s Hierarchical Medical System. The platform is also expected to improve referral services for patients as well as integrate various healthcare networks so that people will be able to access their personal medical records more easily.
