Tendermint Raises $9 Million in Investment Round

Tendermind, a Blockchain based consensus algorithm and P2P (peer-to-peer) networking protocol, published in its blog post on March 14 that it had succeeded in raising $9 million via a Series A investment round. The investors were led by Paradigm, the crypto investment company, along with Bain Capital as well as 1confirmation. Other investors also contributed to the fund raising.

Tendermint stated that a part of the investment would be used to support the development of its Cosmos Network and the ecosystem around it. The funds would also be used on building staff for the company as well as the creation of a more sustainable business model for the protocol.

CBOE Putting Futures Market on Hold

CBOE Global Markets’ (Chicago Board Options Exchange Global Markets’) division, Cboe Futures Exchange (CFE) announced on Thursday, March 14 that it was putting its Bitcoin (BTC) Futures Market on hold. CFE stated that it would not be adding a new BTC Futures market for the month of March as it needed to review its strategy in the crypto futures market space.

The company clarified that it needed to assess how it was going to approach the digital assets derivatives market in the future. The company stated that while it would not add any new BTC futures markets, the currently listed futures contracts would still be available for trading.

18-Year-Old Hacker Referred to Japanese Prosecutors

According to local news reports, an 18-year-old hacker was referred to prosecutors for stealing cryptocurrencies in the Japanese city of Utsonomiya. Allegedly, the hacker accessed a smartphone digital wallet Monappy and managed to steal ¥15 million (~$134,196) worth of cryptos between August 14 and September 1 in 2018. This attack was reported to have affected more than 7,700 users of that wallet service.

The young hacker used the software Tor, which allows users to anonymize traffic on the internet. However, the Japanese police were able to trace the hacker by analyzing the record of all communications that had been stored on the website’s server. According to the media, the hacker pleaded guilty to all the allegations.
