According to a press release issued by ConsenSys on January 04, the Blockchain software company is teaming up with investment management company based out of Abu Dhabi, Halo Holdings, and the semiconductor manufacturing major Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), to develop a Blockchain-based infrastructure for cloud computing.

First of Its Kind

The three companies are partnering to develop the W3BCLOUD, a cloud computing infrastructure that will be supported by AMD’s hardware designed specially to support Dapps (decentralized applications).

ConsenSys will provide its expertise in computing in Blockchain based transactions, cyber security related issues and use cases for Blockchain technology.

ConsenSys founder Joe Lubin stated that using AMD’s hardware technology to boost Blockchain networks’ computing power would help with the adoption of decentralized systems across the world.

Other Initiatives

Besides this partnership, ConsenSys also signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with South Korea’s technology giant SK Group in December 2018. The initiative is looking at developing an enterprise level Blockchain based business model employing smart contracts. Through this partnership, South Korea’s developers will also be educated about Blockchain technology via the ConsenSys Academy and C&C’s Tech Training Center, SK Group’s learning academy.

AMD also entered into a partnership with seven other major technology companies in November last year to create 8 new cryptocurrency mining rigs. AMD highlighted the fact that this new partnership would bring about new Blockchain computing solutions to the global market.

Added to that AMD also released a video about Blockchain technology, which explained the core features of the nascent technology. This video listed trust, security as well as integrity as the key advantages of Blockchain technology.
