Billions Lawsuit Against Craig Wright Continues

Unfortunately for Craig Wright, a United States court has rejected his repeated requests to dismiss the infamous $4 billion lawsuit filed against him. It is worth mentioning that Wright is the nChain chief scientist who is facing an ongoing battle, which alleges his involvement in a Bitcoin theft situation.

Denying The Application

Wright is basically believed to be involved in the theft of the aforementioned cryptocurrency. The latter was from the estate of the deceased digital currency developer named David Kleiman. Apparently, a South Florida District court judge decided to deny his application, which was meant to throw the charges given to him.

The case has actually been a long battle since its inception. Originally, it arrived to the court sometime in February. It was specifically during the time when Kleiman’s family claimed that Wright stole a huge amount – reportedly around 1.1 million BTC – of right after he passed away.

It is worth noting that Wright is known to be a person who often proclaims himself to be the Bitcoin creator named Satoshi Nakamoto. As a matter of fact, he frequently vyed with Kleiman as possible candidates for the anonymous early developer of the digital currency.

After Kleiman’s Death

Kleiman’s, however, died in 2013, which eventually put Wright into the limelight. Following the former’s passing, the latter reportedly had contacted his estate, claiming to want to help dispose of the Bitcoin fortune.

Wright in part did so, which was exactly what he promised.  The only catch, however, is that he did not return the funds, at least, this is what the family says. In an amended lawsuit supported by Judge Beth Bloom, a figure of 300,000 BTC is now circulating.

Dismissed Application

“The Court finds that Plaintiffs have sufficiently alleged a claim for conversion,” the court document confirms, continuing:

“The Amended Complaint alleges that Defendant converted at least 300,000 bitcoins upon Dave’s death and transferred them to various international trusts, which was an unauthorized act that deprived the Plaintiffs of the bitcoins therein. Accordingly, Plaintiffs’ claim for conversion… survives Defendant’s Motion to Dismiss.”

The court has given Wright until January 10 to respond to the counts, all of which have remained outstanding.

Interestingly, the move caps a contentious year for the entrepreneur, whose favored altcoin Bitcoin SV (BSV) has faced negative publicity since it hard forked from Bitcoin Cash (BCH) in November.
