Switzerland-based blockchain development company Jelurida will soon bring the popular game of bridge onto the blockchain through its BridgeChamp platform. Currently under development, BridgeChamp marks Jelurida’s entry into the blockchain gaming ecosystem.

Globally, bridge is one of the most popular card games. It is usually played across homes and clubs (offline) and a few online platforms, but the “stay-at-home” restrictions implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted that the current online infrastructure isn’t well-equipped to meet the diverse needs of players.

Even though bridge has been recognized as a “sport” by the International Olympic Committee, not much has been done to help game players connect with one another. A few online platforms exist, but they don’t have the required technical infrastructure to facilitate seamless gameplay.

Realizing the need for a decentralized, provably fair, and transparent ecosystem, Jelurida, in partnership with Barak Lieberman, the owner of two prominent Israeli bridge clubs and the founder of the Bridge Online Academy, has built BridgeChamp from the ground up to offer bridge players with an extremely user-friendly platform.

With BridgeChamp, Jelurida enters the blockchain gaming scene. The company has significant plans for the growing sector and has underlined that bringing bridge on-chain is just the beginning. Per the Jelurida team, bridge, as a game, is perfectly suited to be integrated with blockchain technology. It’s a social game that has a global community but lacks the “hype” that fuels other games.

Accordingly, adding elements of gamification and tokenization will play a critical role in attracting new audiences while driving the popularity of the game in general.

A New World Of Online Bridge Play

BridgeChamp is the first-of-its-kind platform for online bridge play powered by blockchain technology, making bridge play as easy as possible for gamers irrespective of their geographical location. The platform seamlessly integrates the brick-and-mortar and online worlds while offering its players a world-class environment where anyone can learn and practice their skills and compete with different competitors anytime and anywhere.

The platform is currently under development. However, Jelurida has launched the official website and the whitepaper to showcase its intent to bring forth a feature-rich platform that allows players to connect in a secure and fully customizable environment.

BridgeChamp is deployed on the Ignis chain, which is the main child-chain of Jelurida’s Ardor blockchain. As such, it offers every feature that Ardor has and includes additional features like customizable account properties and multisig configurations. Ignis also supports advanced privacy mechanisms such as coin shuffling and encrypted messaging. Simply put, Ignis has everything needed to facilitate online gaming, and Jelurida is putting it to good use through BridgeChamp

Unlike existing centralized online bridge platforms that offer limited features, BridgeChamp aims to offer end-to-end services for participants. The platform will include open APIs, allowing users to set up competitions and share video and audio as well alongside the registration and organization of competitions through in-game economic tools. At the same time, bridge tokens will be mined using cryptocurrency assets based on the results of “proof-of-play” and achievement tracking.

Furthermore, BridgeChamp will auto-log results securely on the Ignis blockchain to prevent fraud and tampering. Cheating will be virtually impossible on the platform as cards will be dealt with according to provable randomization. Players will also have the option to play with AI-powered bots or 1v1 with other players via a secured video conferencing feature. On top of this, BridgeChamp will also serve as a social network where like-minded bridge players can build relationships and communities.

To further its reach for the upcoming on-chain bridge playing platform, Jelurida has also partnered with the Bridge Online Academy. BridgeChamp is also sponsoring the forthcoming Red Sea International Bridge Festival in Eilat, Israel. Jelurida has plans to launch BridgeChamp’s casual bridge play feature to the public during this festival

Besides developing innovative solutions for bridge players, BridgeChamp and Jelurida teams are currently working to deliver more tools for bridge clubs and unions alike. Many features are currently in testing for eventual rollout per Jelurida’s roadmap. At present, Jelurida is accepting beta testers for BridgeChamp to ensure each feature is ready before the launch.

The Jelurida – Bridge Champ collaboration is the first in what will hopefully be a long line of partnerships aimed at integrating online (gaming) platforms with blockchain-powered software. Moreover, Jelurida’s ecosystem is designed to support the real-world use of blockchain technology and is fully equipped to support a wide range of games, giving it an extra edge over its competitors.
