According to an official Facebook announcement by Church’s Chicken on December 12, the restaurant chain that specializes in hand battered fried chicken now accepts payments in the cryptocurrency Dash at its outlets.

World’s First Fast Food Chain to Accept Crypto

Dash News published the report that its cryptocurrency Dash is now accepted in 10 of 13 of Church’s Chicken branches in Venezuela. The report stated that the first transaction in the cryptocurrency was also completed at the restaurant. Dash News uploaded a video of the transaction on its official YouTube page.

Church’s Chicken also confirmed the deal, stating that it was now the first international fast food chain to accept Dash as a method of payment.

Church’s Chicken Venezuela’s General Manager Orlando Gustavo Navas stated that the teams at Dash Venezuela and Dash Core Group had been instrumental in helping the restaurant chain adapt its payment systems to accept cryptocurrencies as a payment method.

Navas also stated that the Dash teams had helped with staff training and given counsel on critical internal as well as legal processes to make this integration a successful one.

Dash Redeemed

The announcement by Church’s Chicken follows the embarrassment the Dash team faced just a few days ago when the company had announced that KFC Venezuela was accepting payments in Dash and KFC denied the claim.

KFC Venezuela publically refuted the claim that Dash News’ PR and Media Director Mark Mason had made. Dash had to make a public apology to KFC about misrepresenting facts and that they were currently holding negotiations about the possibility of cryptocurrency payments at KFC outlets.

This incident also hurt Dash’s claims that the “Dash movement” was growing fast in Venezuela.

However, now, with the official announcement from Church’s Chicken, Dash’s reputation has been redeemed.

The co-founder of Dash Merchants Venezuela, Alejandro Echeverria stated that deals such as these could lead to opportunities across the country for the crypto to establish itself as a prime payments partner.

Dash Gaining Ground

Dash has been gaining a lot of ground in recent months on its privacy focused and SMS backed wallet, which allows users to carry out transactions without needing a smartphone or even an internet connection.

Echeverria stated that first it was only small family businesses and food trucks that had adopted Dash as a payment option. However, now, the cryptocurrency was attracting even the more established businesses.
