VaultTel, which is a U.S.-based startup, has recently launched a tiny digital currency hardware wallet. Interestingly, its size is enough for it to fit in the SIM tray on smartphones.

Introducing VaultTel Intellichip Card

According to the official announcement made by the firm, the wallet solution has the ability to combine an app and its Intellichip card. By doing so, it can easily store crypto privacy keys on mobile phones. The process would include the utilization of “military grade” encryption and biometric authentication in order to ensure the safety of the funds.

The aforementioned wallet is designed in a way that it can efficiently be inserted in the SIM card slot of any Android mobile devices. If not, they can also be used alongside a dongle accessory meant for Apple iPhones, the company confirmed via the announcement made.

Through the existence of a biometric authentication feature, the user or owner of phone can rest assured knowing that the transfer of funds from the wallet is possible and safe. Even more so, this feature prevents the possibility of spy screen recorder or even Trojan. It prevents them from happening, let alone record whatever is happening on a user’s respective hardware wallet. Basically, this is possible because the card does not necessarily use system or laptop resources.

Explaining the Card’s Features

The wallet can be pre-ordered by interested individuals, and there are two options to do so. For starters, it comes with an Android package that is being priced at around $98. The second one is simply an iOS package and is being priced at about $131. Users can get more info via the official website of VaultTel.

The VaultTel Intellichip is believed to be using the titular AES or Advanced Encryption Standard 512. As such, it has the ability to safeguard the process of storing data. In addition to that, it offers a variety of optional features. For instance, the card is able to restrict wallet access to any device and even “geolock” it. The latter, on the other hand, is more on constraining any access to a certain geographic location.

VaultTel further claimed that it was successful in implementing the latest Bitcoin standards for its product. This includes the Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) 39 meant specifically for mnemonic seeds. Also, there is the BIP44, which is responsible for allowing HD or hierarchical deterministic wallets. Lastlty, users will be given the ability to back up their own wallets directly on their respective VaultTel cards.
