The upcoming Bitcoin Core is definitely what every true BTC enthusiast is waiting for. Basically, the upcoming major version of the crypto’s most widely utilized software will finally enable users to easily connect BTC full nodes to hardware wallets.

The Upgrade BTC Users Want

According to the official report, the aforementioned version will be the 18th major iteration for the software designed for the world’s leading digital currency. By essence, BTC full nodes give users the ability to verify whether transactions really took place. As for hardware wallets, they are deemed to be among the most secure ways when it comes to storing Bitcoin.

Given how sophisticated and important they are, there is definitely a great emphasis on wanting to connect the two. That is why BTC enthusiasts are very much looking forward to this update. To put it simply, the upcoming version will make it so much easier for the two to be joined together. This ultimately makes the integration a big win for users, who have been hoping for a way to fully control their Bitcoin. More importantly, doing so allows them to feel secure knowing that they will not lose the crypto in the process.

In an interview, Wladimir van der Laan, the Bitcoin Core lead maintainer, said that it is one of the software’s most anticipated features. It is worth noting that he is also in charge of coordinating the upcoming upgrade.

A Much Bigger Plan

Interestingly, the change is just a smaller portion of a much bigger effort. This is to really make Bitcoin full nodes much easier for average users. For instance, Casa has managed to launch a node that is capable of working without setting up any necessary setup. Developers of the BTC protocol, on the other hand, are constantly finding a way to significantly reduce the quantity of data users require in order to store to run one.

According to Andrew Chow, a contributor at Bitcoin Core and one of the lead developers of the project, the “merged” is going to enable Bitcoin Core 0.18 capable of being used alongside hardware wallets. Chow added that this is a process that can finally be achieved through Hardware Wallet Interface.

It should be noted, however, that the upcoming upgrade will still be a command line only and manual. Chow further stated that despite the latter, it can still be a huge step forward.
