If ICO and ITO issuers are hoping for an easier time in Canada, they will be sadly mistaken. Unlike the US, Canadian securities laws fall under the purview of the country’s provinces. While there is a centralized authority – the Canadian Securities Administrators – that connects all the provincial regulators, each province can have its own set of laws in relation to securities.

Last week, two of the big markets for the Bitcoin futures contracts saw a massive hike in trading volumes. CBOE experienced its highest ever volumes for the cryptocurrency’s futures contracts since they were launched with much fanfare in December last year. CME’s trading volumes also spiked hugely, though not as much as CBOE’s.

MyEtherWallet’s DNS servers were hacked last night. MyEtherWallet is an online app for storing as well as sending Ether as well as Ethereum-based cryptocurrencies. About $152,000 worth of cryptocurrency (about 250 Ether) were stolen from one of the wallet’s DNS servers. The concern at this point is that figure could go up if the hackers are able to access more accounts.

2018 has been a rocky year for the cryptocurrency market so far. Prices have plunged from their all-time highs in December last year and in the last two months, trading volumes have dipped and prices have struggled to beat resistance points. However, in the last ten days or so, there seems to have been a turnaround in the cryptocurrency market.

The High Court of Delhi in India has issued a notice to the country’s central bank, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Goods and Services Tax Council (GST Council) as well as the Ministry of Finance, stating that their decision to stop dealing with cryptocurrency related businesses has violated the constitution of India.

Brazil’s biggest investment broker, XP Investimentos, may be launching its own Over the Counter (OTC) Bitcoin Exchange. While the company itself has not made any announcements to this effect, one of the local news agencies did some digging.

The Savedroid ICO has been in the news for the last few days – and not for the right reasons. This German startup raised more than $50 million with its Initial Coin Offering, which is quite outstanding. However, after that initial ICO, the startup has been garnering only negative attention as the company has been pulling some rather alarming stunts.
