South Korea Looking To Use Blockchain For Defense Business Operations
The military acquisitions agency of South Korea is looking to launch a blockchain pilot project. The decision to do so has something to do with its aim to significantly improve business operations in the defense sector. Here is everything about it in a nutshell.
Improving Defense Procurement Operations
According to the official report, the country’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration or DAPA recently revealed that the effort would involve a platform solely based on blockchain. The South Korean agency hopes to prevent the possibility of “illegal alteration,” which could exist in all of its defense business data.
There are two entities reportedly working alongside DAPA in an attempt to make the initiative a reality. These are none other than the country’s Defense Agency for Technology and Quality and Defense Development. Through the partnership, the three are expected to bring improvements to the very credibility concerning defense procurement operations. The report further suggests that this could be achieved through recoding the acquisitions process right on the blockchain. This would include all the way from initial bids straight to the final evaluation.
Leveraging The Blockchain
Moreover, the agency is looking to further take advantage of blockchain technology. It turns out that the project could significantly bring improvements to some of its operations. For starters, the management of all business proposal submissions would soon become automated, making the overall process quicker and better. Interestingly, the country’s other agencies have been starting to realize the power of the technology. In fact, a good number of them have been using it to perform trials in the public sector since last year. For instance, KISA or the Korea Internet & Security Agency is looking to double the number of blockchain pilot projects it has.
