Cryptopia Resumes Trading

Cryptopia, the New Zealand-based crypto exchange announced via a Tweet that it had resumed trading operations on 40 trading pairs. The company stated that these pairs had been assessed and deemed secure. Cryptopia also stated that it would continue to expand its list of tradeable crypto pairs once they were cleared.

In January this year, the exchange was victim to a $16-million hack attack, after which it shut down operations to repair the damage done. Initially, Cryptopia had stated that it was undergoing an unscheduled maintenance check, however later, it revealed the truth about the hack. Recently, the company had announced that it was going to resume operations by the end of this month.

Avnet Now Accepting Crypto Payments

Avnet, a Fortune 500 company that is one of the world’s largest electronics components and services distributor, announced on March 19 that it was now accepting payments using cryptocurrencies via a partnership with BitPay, the global payments processor.

Avnet stated that customers could now pay in BTC (Bitcoin) and BCH (Bitcoin Cash) for its products and services. These payments would be verified as well as processed by BitPay. Vice President of demand creation at Avnet, Sunny Trinh stated that the company was working with BitPay to create a secure payments system for its customers so that they could focus on product development rather than how to pay for them.

QuadrigaCX Co-Founder Actually Convicted Criminal

According to mainstream media reports, Canadian cryptocurrency exchange QuadrigaCX’s co-founder Michael Patryn was previously known as Omar Dhanani and was involved in various criminal activities in the US.

Patryn and Gerald Cotten co-founded the company in 2013, however, Patryn left in 2016, citing basic differences of opinion about the listing process the exchange was following. However, Patryn and his partner Lovie Horner continued to remain QuadrigaCX’s biggest stakeholders, even though they did not have any direct involvement in the firm’s operations. Patryn denied that he was Dhanani however, there are reportedly official Canadian records that show that he changed his name twice.

Stellar has overtaken Binance Coin as the 7th most valuable cryptocurrency in the world. However, like most of the other top cryptos, Stellar is also trading in the red, with its token price dipping by 1.72% in the last 24 hours. However, the biggest losses are being suffered by Binance Coin, which is currently down by 3.28% in the same time period. Bitcoin (up 0.54%) and Tron (up 0.37%) are the only two cryptos from the top list that are currently in the green.
