WWF Launches Blockchain Based Supply Chain Tracker

The WWF (World Wildlife Fund) announced that is has launched a Blockchain based supply chain tracking platform. This tool, called OpenSC, will allow consumers as well as businesses to keep track of the food supply chain.

The tool has been created by the partnership of BGC Digital Ventures and WWF Australia. BCG is the worldwide corporate venture, incubation and investment subsidiary of the American giant Boston Consulting Group. Through this new platform, businesses will be able to track their products, while consumers will be able to see where and how the product originated.

Blockstream Launches Beta Version of Satellite API

Blockstream, the Blockchain tech company, has launched the beta version of the Blockstream Satellite, an API designed to help developers broadcast their data using the satellite network of the company. Users can now use Blockstream’s satellite network for relaying encrypted messages and pay for the service using the Lightening testnet.

The is the next step in the company’s satellite service expansion plans, when Blockstream began relaying BTC’s Blockchain on a worldwide scale. The focus is to remove Bitcoin’s network from depending on land-based internet connections through the Bitcoin space initiative. This is expected to make the network more robust.

Beam’s Critical Bug Could Have Put User’s Funds at Risk

The developers of the privacy focused wallet service Beam said that the critical bug that had been discovered in their software last week could have put user’s funds at risk. The bug was subsequently fixed, however, had it not been, hackers could have used the vulnerability to make modified transactions and then move funds from users’ wallets to their own.

The chief technology officer of Beam Alex Romanov explained that attackers could have leveraged the company’s custom built SBBS (Secure Bulletin Board System) to move money to their own wallets. The SBBS is a system that allows encrypted messages to be sent between different wallets when offline. Romanov was clear that this glitch had been specific to the app and did not in any way relate to the privacy tech called mimblewimble used by the wallet.

Trading in the cryptocurrency market is muted today, with all the top ten cryptos showing either marginal losses or gains. Tron and EOS are up 0.91% and 0.70% respectively. In the losing cryptos, Litecoin is showing the highest price loss at 1.10%, followed by Bitcoin SV, which is showing losses of 1.09%. The third biggest loser in trading so far today is Bitcoin Cash, which is down by 0.96%.
