Nayuta, which is a startup based in Japan, is expected to release an in-progress lightning implementation. And unlike any other, it comes with a very compelling focus – the Internet of things or IoT.

Leveraging the Internet of Things

According to the official report, the company is going to publish the very first lightning implementation specifically designed toward IoT. The latter, in particular, can also refer to networks of connected devices, all of which can feed data from one to another.

Interestingly, there is an interesting idea behind Nayuta’s release. Basically, it can connect to the live network of the world’s leading cryptocurrency called Bitcoin, contrary to a test one. As a result, the process is more than capable of transaction real BTC.

As of press time, the startup’s upcoming release will be deemed the fourth lightning implementation to officially launch on the BTC mainnet. This move follows recent software pushes courtesy of Blockstream, Acinq, and Lightning Labs – all of which are also startups.

Apparently, the release will be dubbed Ptarmigan, which is basically the Japanese term for “thunder bird.” The name reportedly plays off the narrative that the promising BTC technology it builds upon is called “lightning.”

The Role of Micropayments

The company also has its own views toward micropayments, which it sees as a major element when it comes to the ever-budding Internet of Things sector. It is worth noting that the industry itself is has been successful in attracting attention from a deluge of big name companies. Some of these have even started investing both time and resources, particularly at the very intersection of blockchain and IoT.

It holds true that, as of now, there is no single clear direction as to how the technology can be successfully integrated into connected device networks. However, as far as recent headlines are concerned, there is no doubt that a good number of essential industries across the globe are starting to be part of the initiative.

Basically, there is an idea behind this aspect, which has been demonstrated by Jaguar’s very own IOTA experiment. It turns out that all IoT devices are more than capable of performing small payments to one another. As a matter of fact, this is the same experiment that startups like Nayuta are doing.  As far as lightning is concerned, there is every possibility of micropayments to be implemented and transacted using Bitcoin.
