Contributing Towards Initiatives For The Betterment Of Mankind

As blockchain’s impact on the environment continues to face heightened scrutiny from all corners, Enjin, the leading NFT platform, is setting new benchmarks for sustainable and environment-friendly initiatives.

The platform has become the first NFT platform to be accepted into the United Nations Global Compact. As a “participant,” the highest membership rank offered to businesses, Enjin will align its business policies and operational processes to meet the responsibilities in the areas of human rights,anti-corruption, environment, and labor. More broadly, Enjin will incorporate the 10 Principles of the UN Global Compact into its business model, all while collaborating with and supporting other businesses and initiatives to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

As a platform, Enjin has pioneered the use of environmentally-friendly solutions across its products and services. The platform recently joined the Crypto Climate Accord, which is focused on eliminating carbon emissions caused by the crypto and blockchain industry.

To take its efforts a step further, Enjin acquired carbon offset credits via Beyond Neutral that are offsetting a larger carbon footprint than the platform already realizes. The platform’s eco-friendly JumpNet already consumes 99.99% less power than the Ethereum blockchain, highlighting its internal progress.

Solving Social & Environmental Problems With Blockchain

Furthering its commitment to a carbon-neutral ecosystem, Enjin has additionally announced that it plans to make JumpNet and Efinity, Enjin’s upcoming Polkadot parachain, 100% carbon neutral by 2030. All of these initiatives by Enjin also support Principle 9 of the Global Compact, which states, “encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.”

“At Enjin, we’re developing a sustainable ecosystem to create a better future using NFTs,” commented Maxim Blagov, CEO of Enjin. “Joining the UN Global Compact reaffirms our commitment to improving people’s lives through blockchain technology, and will ensure these efforts are sustainable, focused, and optimized while holding us accountable to the public along the way.”

In addition to the sustainable and green blockchain initiatives, Enjin was also part of a recent event hosted by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI). Enjin, alongside thousands of other companies, will develop sustainable blockchain solutions to address discrimination, inequality, and unemployment across the globe.

Esther Chang, Executive Director of Global Compact Network Singapore, added, “With less than ten years left to meet the UN’s 2030 Agenda on sustainable development, technology plays an important role that can help us reach the global goals faster and contribute to a more prosperous and sustainable world in 2030. We warmly welcome Enjin to the United Nations Global Compact and look forward to working alongside them to take decisive action for the SDGs.”
